Dear Colleagues,
The Institute for Science and International Security (ISIS) and the James Martin Center for Nonproliferation Studies (CNS) would like to invite you to the second briefing in a two-part series of briefings convened by ISIS and CNS. At this briefing, David Albright and Olli Heinonen will speak about the necessary features and importance of a good Iranian nuclear deal. Albright and Heinonen will each provide a briefing and Leonard Spector will provide moderation and comments. A discussion will follow.
The event will take place on Tuesday, September 30 from 10:00 - 11:30 AM at the James Martin Center for Nonproliferation Studies located at 1400 K Street, NW, Suite 1250.
David Albright is the President and Founder of the Institute for Science and International Security (ISIS). ISIS has been at the forefront of assessing the Iranian nuclear program for over a decade, providing technical analysis of its capabilities, policy solutions for resolving the crisis, and tracking the program’s growth. During the last year, it has closely tracked the negotiations with Iran and contributed to the development of the necessary elements of a long-term comprehensive nuclear agreement.
Olli Heinonen is a Senior Fellow at the Belfer Center. Before joining the Belfer Center in 2010, Heinonen served for 27 years at the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) in Vienna. Heinonen was the Deputy Director General of the IAEA and head of its Department of Safeguards. The Belfer Center for Science and International Affairs is the hub of Harvard Kennedy School’s research, teaching, and training in international security and diplomacy, environmental and resource issues, and science and technology policy.
Leonard “Sandy” Spector is the Deputy Director of CNS’s Washington D.C. office. Spector joined CNS from the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE), where he served as an Assistant Deputy Administrator for Arms Control and Nonproliferation at the National Nuclear Security Administration.
